The Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council (MREPC) was incorporated on 14 April 2000 under the Companies Act 1965 as a company limited by guarantee under the Ministry of Primary Industries. MREPC is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Minister of Primary Industries. MREPC is tasked with undertaking market promotion of quality Malaysian rubber products in world markets, and in particular, to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Buyers Sourcing Programme in Conjunction with MREPC's Participation in Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2019
MREPC will participate in the biennial Automechanika Kuala Lumpur (AMKL) at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 21 - 23 March 2019. The event, which is Malaysia’s leading regional trade fair for the automotive industry, will target trade visitors from ASEAN. Themed 'Sourcing, Training, Entertainment', this edition of AMKL will introduce three new product categories, namely 'Repair & Maintenance', 'Dealer & Workshop Management' and 'REIFEN' for the tyre segment.
With 300 exhibitors and more than 8,000 visitors expected at the event, AMKL serves as an ideal platform for local and overseas industry players to source automotive components and services; get the latest developments, trends and insights on the automotive industry; and build business networks.
In conjunction with AMKL 2019, MREPC is organising a Buyers' Sourcing Programme on rubber automotive components and precured treads. MREPC will arrange business meeting sessions between potential foreign buyers and Malaysian rubber automotive components manufacturers, as well as organise rubber product factory visits for the foreign buyers.

MREPC's Successful Participation at Arab Health 2019
With continuous expansion over the years, Arab Health is the largest gathering of healthcare and trade professionals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as well as an ideal platform to source medical supplies. The 44th edition of Arab Health was held from 28 - 31 January 2019 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. A new feature, the Innov8 talks, was introduced for all start-ups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) focused in the field of healthcare. The Innov8 Talks, which took place at the new Innovation Hub, comprised 8 pitches each lasting 8 minutes.
MREPC together with 12 Malaysian rubber medical device manufacturers participated at Arab Health 2019, to showcase and promote high-quality made-in-Malaysia rubber medical devices. This year the MREPC Pavilion, which took up a bigger space expanding to 132sqm from 105sqm previously, was located in a new venue at the upgraded Pavilion Hall.
MREPC's vibrant pavilion with its iconic corporate colours - canary yellow and lime green, succeeded in drawing a significant number of people. Nearly 3,000 visitors visited MREC's pavilion with more than 2,000 trade leads recorded. The enquiries received were mainly from Middle East, South Asian and African countries. The participating Malaysian manufacturers reported promising potential sales for the next 12 months. Most of them expressed satisfaction with Arab Health 2019 and looked forward to participating in the upcoming edition which is scheduled to be held from 27 - 30 January 2020.
MREPC will kick off the year with its customary participation at Arab Health, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 28 to 31 January 2019. Following the enthusiastic response from the industry members, MREPC will take up an expanded pavilion from 105sqm in 2018 to 132sqm. The pavilion will house a total of 12 Malaysian manufacturers of medical gloves, condoms, rubber catheters and other rubber medical devices. MREPC’s pavilion will also move to a new location at the upgraded Pavilion Hall.
Arab Health is the largest annual gathering of healthcare professionals and industry players in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The event serves as an ideal platform to discover state-of-the-art technology and the latest developments in healthcare products and services as well as provides opportunities to connect with influential stakeholders and decision makers in the region's healthcare industry. The 2019 edition of the event is expecting more than 4,150 exhibiting companies and 84,500 attendees from more than 160 countries.

Successful Participation at Automechanika Shanghai 2018
Automechanika Shanghai 2018, Asia’s largest trade fair for automotive parts, accessories, equipment and services, was held from 28 November – 1 December 2018 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), Shanghai, China. The event continued to post achievements in various aspects. The number of trade visitors rose by an unprecedented 15% to 150,568 from last year, while the total number of exhibitors grew by 4% to 6,269. The event’s exhibition space also expanded by 3% to 350,000 sqm.
MREPC’s pavilion also increased to 108sqm from 84sqm following the enthusiastic response from the industry members. The pavilion accommodated a total of 10 Malaysian manufacturers who showcased a wide array of quality rubber automotive components and products. In line with efforts to expand export of quality made-in-Malaysia rubber products to global markets, MREPC arranged several business-matching sessions during the 4-day event. The Malaysian manufacturers, who met a number of potential buyers, reported encouraging sales.
MREPC also received enquiries from more international visitors this year. Most enquiries were on gaskets and seals, rubber hoses, dust covers, weatherstrips and engine mountings. The next edition of Automechanika Shanghai is scheduled to be held from 27 – 30 Nov 2019 at the same venue.
Malaysia's Automotive Sector Needs Improvement in Many Areas, Says Deputy Minister

The national automotive landscape involves many areas of engineering that need to be upgraded, including adapting to new technologies, said Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Dr Ong Kian Ming. Echoing Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's call for the industry to gain knowledge in automotive engineering technology, in relation to the third national car, Ong said there are always new technologies coming into the automotive sector.
FDA Issues Final Guidance on Devices Containing Animal-Derived Materials

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued final guidance on medical devices containing materials derived from animal sources on March 15, 2019. The guidance is intended to help device companies establish and document procedures that mitigate risk of infectious disease exposure through contact with devices containing animal-derived materials. It expands on recommendations in the draft document issued in 2014 and in the previous document issued in 1998.
